My name is Juan Herrera and I am serving a long sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections for murder. As the days went by I turned to art to help me control my depression and overall health. Out of necessity I taught myself how to do portraits and drawings to prevent the mental anguish from the constant weight of daily prison life. I have always been a humble and sincere man along with being a romantic. My art makes me proud and offers collectors a great value, but the facial expressions and letters I receive are what mean the most to me. I have expanded into oil paintings, landscapes, and special requests. My dream is to continue to build my brand and possibly develop caricatures for a comic strip to bring the world joy and laughter which we all so desperately need.
